MJ Angel was born in Barinas, Venezuela — a country being swallowed by dictatorship. She grew up watching her nation deteriorate under authoritarian rule. That environment didn't break her — it taught her what justice looks like when it's absent.
MJ Angel nació en Barinas, Venezuela — un país consumido por la dictadura. Creció viendo cómo su nación se deterioraba bajo el régimen autoritario. Ese entorno no la quebró — le enseñó cómo se ve la justicia cuando está ausente.
She became a lawyer in Venezuela in 2016, but like hundreds of thousands of Venezuelans, eventually had to make an impossible choice: stay, or leave everything behind. She came to the United States to start over — with nothing. No English. No network. No safety net.
Se recibió de abogada en Venezuela en 2016, pero como cientos de miles de venezolanos, tuvo que tomar una decisión imposible: quedarse o dejarlo todo atrás. Llegó a Estados Unidos para empezar de nuevo — sin nada. Sin inglés. Sin contactos. Sin red de seguridad.

She earned her Paralegal Certificate from Texas A&M International University, then made the biggest bet of her life: applying to the University of Houston Law Center for an LLM in U.S. Law. She graduated in May 2023 with collegiate honors, ranking among the top of her class. She passed the Texas Bar in April 2024.
Obtuvo su Certificado de Paralegal de Texas A&M International University, y luego hizo la apuesta más grande de su vida: aplicar al Centro de Derecho de la Universidad de Houston para un LLM en Derecho Estadounidense. Se graduó en mayo de 2023 con honores, entre las mejores de su clase. Aprobó el examen de la Barra de Texas en abril de 2024.

MJ has personal experience with tourist visas, asylum petitions, student visas, and TPS. Immigration law isn't academic for her — it's her biography. Angel Law Group exists because she has been on the other side of the table: the side where you don't know the language, don't know the system, and desperately need someone you can trust.
